Coachella Announces Virtual Reality App

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is set to return April 15-17 and April 22-24 in Indio, California. This week, organizers announced that the festival will feature a multitude of virtual reality experiences, thanks to a new partnership with Vantage.tv. As Consequence of Sound points out, ticket holders will soon recieve cardboard headsets in the mail, which they can partner with a smartphone app to view enhanced performances, 360-degree panoramas, and tours of the festival grounds. Performers like Matt & Kim and Gallant will also contribute content. According to the initiative’s website, attendees will be able to create and share their own virtual reality experiences as well. The app will be available on iOS and Android, and will update before, during, and after the festival. Check out a short video showing off the technology below; additional details will be announced in the coming months.
